Finnish accordionist and composer Kimmo Pohjonen
stands apart as one of the world's musical innovators.
Dubbed the 'Hendrix of the accordion', his singular
mission is to expand the capabilities, sound and experience
of his instrument in many different settings. Accordion,
voice effects and surround sound, combine to create
a compelling live experience which has won Kimmo ardent
fans across musical genres - from jazz to electronic,
world to classical, and far beyond.
For Earth Machine Music, Kimmo will collaborate with
local farmers in just four locations in the UK.
Roots Around the World is delighted to announce that
we have persuaded our family friends Richard and Pauline
Marks from Cocking, Nr Midhurst, to allow Kimmo to
record sounds on their farm (see photos below) and
to host one of the performances.
The performance at Manor Farm will feature new music
inspired by the farm machinery and animals, sampled
material, and some agricultural machinery actually
being 'played' live alongside Kimmo.
